1. Guarantee Overview
This Battery Guarantee ("Guarantee") sets out the terms and conditions under whichQuickStart provides warranty protection for batteries installed by our authorised technicians. This Guarantee forms part of our contractual agreement with you and should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service.
Important: This Guarantee applies exclusively to batteries installed byQuickStart authorised technicians at the original installation location or within the M25 motorway area. For installations outside the M25, postal testing procedures apply (see Section 5).
1.1 Guarantee Requirements
To make a claim under this Guarantee, you must:
- Retain your original invoice or booking confirmation as proof of purchase
- Report any battery issue to QuickStart before seeking third-party assistance
- Follow the battery maintenance guidelines provided at installation
- Permit QuickStart to conduct diagnostic testing as specified in this Guarantee
1.2 Non-Transferability
This Guarantee is personal to the original purchaser and is not transferable to any subsequent owner of the vehicle or to any other vehicle. The Guarantee is void if the battery is removed from the original vehicle and installed in a different vehicle.
2. What This Guarantee Covers
2.1 Guarantee Period
The guarantee period applicable to your battery is displayed during the booking process and is stated on your invoice and booking confirmation. The guarantee period commences from the date of installation and covers the battery for the duration specified at the time of purchase.
2.2 Covered Defects
This Guarantee covers defects in materials or workmanship that are:
- Attributable to manufacturing defects in the battery
- Directly caused by QuickStart's installation work
- Not excluded under Section 7 of this Guarantee
2.3 Installation Workmanship
In addition to battery defects, we guarantee our installation workmanship for a period of 90 days from the installation date. This covers:
- Secure battery mounting and fitting
- Correct terminal connections
- Proper cable routing and securing
3. Claim Prerequisites
Mandatory Requirements: Before initiating any warranty claim, the following conditions must be satisfied. Failure to comply with these prerequisites may result in rejection of your claim.
3.1 Battery Recharge Requirement
Prior to any claim, the battery must be fully recharged using a calibrated battery charger appropriate for the battery type. A battery that has been discharged below 10.5V may resist standard charging methods without this indicating a manufacturing defect. Low voltage alone does not constitute evidence of battery failure.
3.2 External Cause Elimination
You must take reasonable steps to eliminate external causes of battery failure before making a claim. Common external causes include but are not limited to:
- Faulty alternator or voltage regulator
- Parasitic electrical drains (interior lights, aftermarket accessories)
- Corroded or loose terminal connections
- Damaged charging cables or earthing points
- Vehicle electrical system faults
3.3 Maintenance Compliance
The battery must have been maintained in accordance with the QuickStart battery maintenance guidelines provided at installation, including:
- Regular use of the vehicle (at least once every 14 days for standard use)
- Avoidance of deep discharge cycles
- Terminal cleanliness and protection
- Appropriate charging when vehicle is stored for extended periods
3.4 Initiating a Claim
To initiate a warranty claim:
- Contact QuickStart promptly upon discovering the issue
- Provide your booking reference number and proof of purchase
- Describe the symptoms and circumstances of the battery failure
- Confirm the vehicle location and availability for testing
QuickStart reserves the absolute right to verify all claims through its designated testing procedures before any replacement or remedy is provided.
4. On-Site Mobile Testing (M25 Area)
For customers located within the M25 motorway boundary or at the original installation location, the following testing procedures apply:
4.1 Testing Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of £40.00 is required to schedule an on-site diagnostic visit. This deposit is applied as follows:
| Test Outcome | Deposit Treatment |
|---|---|
| Battery fault confirmed | Full £40.00 refund + free battery replacement |
| No battery fault identified | Deposit forfeited + £50.00 additional callout fee (total £90.00) |
4.2 Diagnostic Procedures
QuickStart technicians will conduct comprehensive diagnostics using calibrated proprietary equipment, including:
- Battery charge level verification: Must exceed 12.6V for valid testing
- Voltage, amperage, and resistance testing: Pass/fail determination per equipment specifications
- OBD-II port diagnostic scan: To identify vehicle electrical system faults
- Alternator output verification: To confirm charging system functionality
- Parasitic drain measurement: To identify excessive current draw
4.3 Battery Fault Confirmed
If the alternator, parasitic drain, and vehicle electrical systems pass testing but the battery fails (for example, individual cells measuring below 10V), QuickStart will:
- Replace the defective battery free of charge with an equivalent or superior model
- Refund the £40.00 testing deposit immediately
- Provide a new guarantee period for the replacement battery
4.4 No Battery Fault Identified
If testing reveals no battery fault (for example, the issue is attributable to wiring faults, fuse failures, alternator malfunction, or other vehicle electrical issues):
- The £40.00 deposit is forfeited
- An additional £50.00 callout fee applies (total charges: £90.00)
- The vehicle will be jump-started to restore mobility
- The original battery remains installed
- A diagnostic report detailing the identified issues will be provided
4.5 Disputed Results
Customers who dispute QuickStart's test results may obtain independent testing in accordance with Section 6. If independent testing conducted in accordance with Section 6 validates a battery fault:
- The customer is entitled to a full refund of any testing fees paid to QuickStart
- A free replacement battery will be provided
5. Posted Battery Testing (Outside M25)
For customers located outside the M25 motorway boundary and outside the original installation location, postal testing procedures apply:
5.1 Postal Submission
- The customer must remove and post the battery to QuickStart at their own expense
- The battery must be packaged in accordance with hazardous goods shipping regulations
- Tracking and insurance are recommended but not mandatory
5.2 Testing and Outcome
Upon receipt, full diagnostic testing will be conducted. If the battery is confirmed faulty:
- A free replacement battery will be posted to the customer
- Reasonable postage costs for sending the original battery will be reimbursed
If no fault is identified, the original battery will be returned at the customer's expense.
5.3 Shipping Disclaimer
QuickStart expressly disclaims all liability for any damage to the battery occurring during postal transit, delays caused by postal services, or loss of the battery in transit. Customers are advised to obtain appropriate shipping insurance.
6. Independent External Testing
6.1 Acceptable Testing Standards
QuickStart will accept independent test results only from testing conducted using calibrated conductance testers. The test report must clearly display:
- Battery voltage (must be ≥12.6V at time of testing)
- Battery type and specifications
- Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) rating using EN or DIN standard
- Clear pass/fail determination
- Date of testing and testing facility identification
6.2 Validation and Remedy
Independent test results must be submitted to QuickStart for validation. If the results are accepted as demonstrating a battery fault:
- On-site replacement will be arranged in accordance with Section 4 procedures
- Any testing deposits previously paid will be refunded
6.3 Leisure and Cyclic Batteries
Special Requirement: Leisure batteries and cyclic batteries require exclusive QuickStart testing. No external or independent test reports will be accepted for these battery types due to the specialised testing equipment required.
6.4 Third-Party Costs
QuickStart does not reimburse any costs incurred for third-party testing or third-party battery replacements under any circumstances. On-site testing (Section 4) or posted testing (Section 5) is always available and must be utilised for warranty claims.
